    1. [WVRALEIG] Brick Walls
    2. Gracie Stover
    3. I would like to see more of our BrickWalls. Maybe we can help each other get past some of them. My own is Obediah Stover. I have the following clues: 1. PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY DEED BOOK 4 (1774-1778) Page 145. Oct. 22, 1774 from Obediah Stover of Pittsylvania County, to Solomon Davis of Pittsylvania County, for 10 pounds, one certain tract of land in Pittsylvania on the head branches of Pigg River, and bounded by Jeremiah Hall, about 150 acres. Signed, Obediah (X his mark) Stover. Wit: James Stewart, Sr., James ( I his mark) Stewart Jr., Lexrous ( I his mark ) Hardin. Recorded May 25, 1775 (To have owned land in 1774, he would have to have been at least 21 yrs old, so born 1753. Too old to have been the son of Jacob or the son of Jeremiah Stover.) 2. This Obediah, the 'elder' (I will call him) shows up again in 1809 17 Apr Patrick Co VA - Obadiah and Jacob Stover Jeremiah Stoner(Stover), open accounts, estate of Jesse Corn. So this places Obediah 'the Elder' with Jacob and Jeremiah in Patrick Co, as the younger Obediah is still in Franklin Co, and marries Massea Stanley in 1809 in Franklin Co. 3. In Giles Co, VA(which is now Raleigh Co) - after Jacob moves there and buys land, there is also a purchase by an Obediah Stover. "Giles Survey Bk. 1, pg. 217, 219 Jacob, Sr. & Obediah Stover.....Cole River, Lick Cr. 1813, 1814" Obediah Stover, s/o Jacob who md Massea Stanley was still in Franklin Co, Va during this time. He is listed in the Franklin Co, Va census in 1820 and on 5 Jul 1813 signs as the surety for the marraige of John Bell Bailey to his sister-in-law, Sarah Stanley. Obediah, the younger, who md Massea does not show up in the same area as the other Stovers in WV until the 1830 census. In 1840, his widow Massea is alone. So, I beleive that the 'elder' Obediah may have gone to Giles with Jacob Stover. Jacob's son Obediah was not there during this time, he was still in Franklin County. Who was this Obediah Stover, and what happened to him? Perhaps he died in Raleigh before they started registering deaths? Also, the younger Obediah Stover, s/o Jacob Stover and Sallie McGhee, he is my ancestor twice. I have found no record of his death or of his wife's death. Does anyone have anything on that? Thank you, Gracie
