Transcribed by Rita O'Brien Charleston Daily Mail Charleston, West Virginia August 12, 1940 Raleigh Countian Dies of Broken Neck Hansford Carl Hunter, 27-year-old miner of Naomi, Raleigh county, was fatally injured Sunday when an automobile driven by him left the highway near Naomi and plunged 50 feet over an embankment, landing on its top on Coal River. Paul Gunnoe, 22, of Munition, Raleigh county, suffered a fractured pelvis and nose, and cut on his forehead, in the mishap which occurred about 7:30 a.m. He was taken to his home after receiving first aid at Edwight. Surviving Hunter are his widow, Mrs. Hallie Fleshman Hunter, five daughters and one son, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Rosa Acord, of Saxon; his father J. T. Hunter of Naomi; two sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Pettry and Mrs. J. O. McGraw of Bolt; two half-sisters, Opal Acord and Lovena Acord of Saxon; two brothers, Earl Hunter of Naomi and Paul Hunter of Winding Gulf, and two half-brothers, Bill Acord and Stover French Acord of Saxon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Shilo Church, with Rev. Grant Stephens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Note 1: My records show "J.T." should be "J.P" - James Perry Hunter. Note 2: My records show that Hansford was the son of Rosa Alice "Rosie" Tabor and her first husband, James Perry Hunter.
