Transcribed by Rita O'Brien Charleston Daily Mail Charleston, West Virginia December 19, 1930 Stricken with a heart attack, James E. Pettry, 48 years old, of Pine Knob, dropped dead at the home of A. W. Webb at Beckley Tuesday evening. Pettry is said to have been in apparent good health during the day at the courthouse where he was serving as circuit court juryman. He was the father of the late Elsie Pettry Webb, who was shot and killed by Lacy Dickens at Pine Knob, in July 1928. Funeral services were held at his home, Thursday afternoon. Besides the widow, two sons and three daughters survive. They are Gilbert Pettry, of Naomi; Thurmond Pettry, Pine Knob; Mrs. Sam Dickens, Mrs. Chris Webb and Miss Bessie Webb, all of Pine Knob. Note: Please understand these old obits are being transcribed as written - they very well may contain errors. For example, my records show that "Bessie" should be "Ressie".
