Hello: I am looking for any information on the Van Chapel Church in Arnett, WV Raleigh County. I had heard that someone by the name of Freda Dickens had researched the history of the church. Freda probably has a different last name. Sincerely, Jeanne Maschari bannkerjeanne@comcast.net
Thanks Anita. I do not have access to the 1870 census, but maybe I wil remember that. The family I am interested in is Sarah (Daniels) McMillion/McMillian my ggggrandmother Matilda Jane McMillion was living with her in the 1860 Census, and I can't find her after that. I know she was still alive in 1876. My home page at www.McMillionfamily.com explains my connection to Raleigh. The book has lots of pictures of coal mines and miners and I did not see anything on McMillion's of Sand Branch. Mike instead of Sand Branch could it have been Sand Lick that the McMillion lived. anita
I have a question about Sand Branch as well actually, a few questions: Were there actual published geographic boundaries defining the following districts: Shady Springs, Marsh Fork, Slab Fork and yes, Sand Branch??? On page 5 of the Reflections of Raleigh Co It list Mary Frances Shumate Snuffer and her son Addison Snuffer circa 1800 I believe this to be Mary Hawkins Clark (wife of Cyrus Snuffer) and her son Addison taken about 1900. Addison Snuffer married Mary Frances Shumate 3-13-1876 Raleigh Co. anita
