    2. I am a user of FTM 2006 and I love it. There are different views you can use to see information. Perhaps what Clarence used in the past was the old FTM? I originally bought mine when version 6 came out, I think it was. I upgrade each time as well and I love the way it is laid out and it is extremely user friendly :) Just my $ .02 worth =) Jana Hertz ةק´~`·.,¸¸,.·´~`§Ø©×§´~`·.,¸¸,.·´~`§Ø©× Digging up the Dead ... 2. Clarence: I am not familiar with any of the genealogy programs except FTM. Years ago I used PAF, but preferred FTM. If you click on the EDIT icon underneath the person's information, a screen comes up and you can add the burial information. If you try FTM for a week, I believe you will like it. Another good thing about FTM is that many people use it. If you have questions on how to make reports, there's always some one who can tell you how it is done. Nyla i have it already but didnt like it couldnt find where burials went and i used Sierra generations and then Liberty for 10 years and it was so much better in using . you could always see the grandparents the couple and their children on one page ad i noticed that you can see the same on the 2006 family tree I ve been told to use the one from family search.or or Brothers keeper or Roots Magic that replaced Family Orgins. the reason i didnt like family tree maker was because i sent my tree over to it and it deleted all unknowns, females with no maiden names and males without last names every once in a while i send out messages to the different nets to see if they have the last names of persons or of who certain initials are for Ill contact you next week im having a medical procedure on monday and wed im switching to time warner hd and Phone and road runner so im going to start out new with everything. oh by the way Go Mountaineers Clarence ----- Original Message ----- From: <Njcdp@aol.com> To: <WVRALEIG-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 09, 2006 4:24 PM Subject: Re: [WVRALEIG] Turner family tree > > Clarence: Consider getting Family Treemaker 2006. I would recommend that you order it directly from familytreemaker.com. It will be the latest version. And it won't be a pre-bundled package that has a bunch of c.d.'s that you don't need. Once you have it loaded on your computer, I will be more than happy to send you a GEDCOM file of the Turner family, as I show them. 2. Susan E. Richmond
    3. I would like to find the obituary for my father Harry O. Lockman, Jr., dod 05/05/1951, buried London Memorial Park near Montgomery, WV. Died in/near Beckley. I have his death certificate, but would really like to find his obituary. If possible would also like to find any newspaper articles about his death. He died of a broken neck after a fall down a flight of outside stairs. I know his death was investigated by the WV State Police. I contacted them a few years ago, but they could not find the file, which by that time would have been about 50 years after his death. At the time of his death there was unconfirmed information that he was murdered. Many years later someone who supposedly witnessed his fall told one of my uncles that he in fact was murdered, but by that time all other parties involved were also dead. Thank you. Susan E. Richmond

What oter family tree program is like the serria tree i really dont like family tree maker it seems to be hard to find where to input things like religions, burials, education, and work. 1. Rowan Co., NC Kesler's
    2. Hello Janet I do recognize the names John and Christian Kesler of Rowan Co., NC. They were brothers and sons of John Kesler who died there in 1807. There was also another brother George Kesler and a sister whose name is unknown. As far as I know they don't connect to my WV Kessler/Kesler/Keslar's but you never know. I am not working this line but have been contacted by several people who are and I am passing their names along to you as well as copying this letter to them. Perhaps you can help each other. The first is Sid Druen druens@columbus.rr.com the next is Dave Benfield dbenfield@skybest.com and lastly Maureen Tinnesz ptinnesz@bellsouth.net I would be very interested in knowing how you connect to this line and also copied the exchanges you might have so that I can keep up on this branch. 1. THE WEST VIRGINIA KESSLER/KESLER FAMILIES
    2. There were four different Kessler/Kesler lines, that I am aware of, that came from the West Virginia area. The first three of these lines came out of Virginia and the last most likely from the PA or MD area. I refer to each group as: #1- The descendants of Christopher and Sarah Greenwood Butt Kessler- We find them in WV as early as 1859. These Kessler's most always spelled their name with the double "s", although some old records spell it with one. They were located around Nicholas & Greenbrier Co. Later into Webster, Lewis, Harrison and Cabell Co.'s #2- The descendants of Peter and Catherine Schietz/Sheets Kesler- We find them in WV as early as 1802. These Kesler's spelled their name with both one and two "s" depending on the individual family, and were located in Greenbrier, Fayette & Nicholas Co. There are at least seven major researchers working on this line at the present time. I have made several of these researchers aware of the other and they are now working jointly. #3- The descendants of Johannes and Eva Dorothea Leman Kesler- We find them in WV circa 1866 and maybe earlier. These Kessler's also spelled their name with both one and two "s" depending on the individual family, and were located in the Summers, Monroe and Mercer Co. area. Later into Kanawha and Pocahontas Co. This family has been well research and documented in several volumes of books entitled "Out from the Blue Ridge", by Morris S. Kessler and Rev. A. Dean Kesler. #4-The Eastern Panhandle Kessler Family- Most of these Kessler's use two "s". They are referred to as the Eastern panhandle group because they are from the Berkeley and Jefferson Co. area located in the Eastern panhandle of WV. We find them there as early as 1837. Little is know of this group where they came from or where they went. I have been able to lean a little more about this line with the recent death records added to the WV Cultural Society web site. There was some belief that family #1 & #2 were related, but recent DNA testing for genealogical purposes has ruled that out, even though they lived in the same geographical area of WV. One important fact that you have to remember is that West Virginia did not become a state until it separated from Virginia in June of 1863. The state of Virginia had many Kessler/Kesler families and I get inquiries on a regular basis about many Kessler/Kesler's from Botetourt, Rockbridge, Rockingham, and surrounding Virginia counties. I don't have much information about these families, but have connected others who are working on the same lines. I do however, have and am always looking for more, information of those Kessler/Kesler families in WEST Virginia. Are your Kessler/Kesler's from WEST Virginia? Do you know which group you are from? If not, just tell me back as far as you know and I will probably be able to help you find your ancestors. I look forward to hearing from you.
