Hi! > My mother was a Richmond from Summers County. Are you from Summers County? >grew up there at Hinton. > My family is from Summers County. My dad lives there (Lockbridge). I know Richmonds that still live there now. All of these surnames on the branches, I keep forgetting. I guess there is a Richmond back there somewhere. Michael & Christine: Hi! I was sitting here typing information into my home page and a bell went off in my head and I started searching through my mail. My ggg?grandmother's sister was Sarah DeQuasie, born 1825, who married Hugh Richmond. Could this be your Sarah Richmond? (Wow, wouldn't that be something?) What do you know about her? The Surnames in Raleigh County that are my direct line are Stover, Wriston, Scarboro, Nicholas, Blankenship, Bowles, Bailey and Stilwell. I am interested in all of the other Raleigh County names, however as it appears my family is related to most of them. :) I am also looking for Masseys, although it is my step-father's family, there are enough marraiges to Masseys in my family line to warrant checking them out too. Thank you, Gracie

I am a descendant of Stephen Buckland - Melinda Meadows line (from Monroe County). Am looking for parents of John Cox and Julia Deboy (married May 22, 1820 in Monroe County) - my 4th ggrandparents in two branches of this line. Also looking for parents of Effie Lee Howell (my grandmother). She married Ray Lee Buckland on August 4, 1926 in Princewick, Raleigh County. Also looking for parents of James Alexander Bowyer and L. Frances Persinger (both born in Monroe County) - they were married June 6, 1874 in Monroe County (James - 19 L. Frances - 22) - they were my 2nd ggrandparents. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
I'm looking for descendants from my grandfather's first marriage. My mother is the youngest child (of 12) & only one living from his 2nd marriage. I don't know much about his 1st marriage or really how many children they had. Here's what I do know, and I hope someone can help me: Jonathan Calvin NICHOLS, b. 20 May 1865, Clay Co., WV m. 1st on 6 Jun 1889 in Clay Co., WV to Sarah J. JONES. She was b. ca. Apr 1870, Clay Co., WV, d/o of William H. & Rosanna KING JONES. Known children (all b. Clay Co.): Listy Ann "Annie" NICHOLS, b. ca. Jun 1891; Ray, b. ca. Apr 1893. There may be others. Jonathan divorced Sarah on 11 Sep 1894 in Clay Co., WV. As far as I've been able to find, Sarah m2 to Miles T. MORTON, on 3 Aug 1901 in Clay Co., WV. I don't know if she was married after Grandpa and before Miles, but on her marriage to Miles she is listed as a "widow" -- Grandpa was still alive. She & Miles & children moved to Raleigh Co., WV & are listed on the 1910 Raleigh Co., WV. After that the trail is absolutely cold. Mother remembers when she was a child that her father would go over to Raleigh Co. to visit his first family and that once he went to a family reunion over there -- she doesn't remember where in Raleigh Co. it was. I would very much like to contact any of his descendants. I went to the Beckley courthouse several years back, but had no luck in tracking any of the above children or finding the death of Sarah. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Neva
