In NCreed's data there was mention of a Snuffer Cemetery. Can anyone give me information on the burials in this cemetery? I am looking for John William "Bill" Snuffer and Columbia Haith Sutphin family. Regards, Mary A Sutphin

Marlene, I have been looking through the Fayette County records that I have and have not found any of these people - probably not early enough records. I have some notes from another website that gives the husband of Pheobe French as Thomas T. Clay, born abt. 1795 in Giles Co., died 1859 in Raleigh Co. VA. Their marriage date was given as 25 Feb. 1817 in Giles Co. VA. This researcher also lists Henry Clay as the son of Mitchell Clay Jr., as is Thomas. Unfortunately, there were no sources listed for this information, and when I checked my Raleigh death records for Thomas T. Clay, I did not find him listed. I checked the years between 1853-1880. I'll keep looking, Melissa Bailey Duggins PPerry9426 wrote: > > Melissa, > I will be happy to put some of my Clay info on. I would appreciate the > marriage records being posted also. A good number of those Etc/Etc families from the Patrick Co VA area settled in Raleigh Co. All the compilations and digests are available onLine. Bev: I think you have an excellent idea. I always read my email and respond, if not immediately, when I can get to it. I think it would be helpful to post our lookups, etc. to the lists. I don't always have time to visit the specific county sites. Also, I note that many of us are on several lists: Raleigh, Fayette, Monroe, Greenbrier, etc. Thanks! Since Melissa has mentioned Pauline Haga again, her list of books and her address are at this webpage: http://members.xoom.com/stpaula/haga.htm Pauline has done a tremendous amount of work in the local courthouses, and has an amazing number of vital records transcribed, not only from Raleigh Co, but others counties as well. I think that is great idea, Melissa. So many of us do seem to be looking for the same families, or crossing over from one of these families to another in the area. And the music on your website is great, your pages are really coming along, Gracie John Duggins wrote: > Good Evening All! > I wondered if I might make a suggestion to all the folks on this list? > I've noticed that there hasn't been a lot of traffic on here lately. I think that this would be beneficial to others. I, too, do look-ups for Monroe Co and notice I get many requests from different researchers on the same families. Just my two cents, whatever the majority wishes is ok with me. Bev

Dear Marlene, Thanks for responding! So everyone will know, I do have a console and if you click the square button, you can turn the music off if it's not to your liking. Would you consider posting some of your Clay information to the list? I have an interest in the Clay family myself. My gggg-grandfather, John Bailey had a daughter, Nancy, who married Merideth Clay. I am still looking for a marriage date for them, although I haven't had much luck. I thought that they were possibly married in Logan Co., but cannot verify this since there are no records from Logan at that time. I do have some birth, death, and marriage dates for various members of the Clay family in Raleigh Co. and would be happy to post them if there is an interest. Thanks, Melissa PPerry9426 wrote: > > Sounds like a good idea. I look for info each day on the list also. Good Evening All! I wondered if I might make a suggestion to all the folks on this list? I've noticed that there hasn't been a lot of traffic on here lately. I know there are a number of us looking for Raleigh ancestors, though, from the number of lookup requests that I get. I know that I have had several different people request information from me about the same families. I was thinking that we should post lookup requests and answers to the list, so that others may benefit from the information. Would anyone have a problem with doing this?
