Raleigh Co., 1850 Census, p. 7, Microfilm page 4A, 10 July 1850. 49 Daniel Adkinson 41 M Farmer 500 Va Sarah Adkinson 33 F Va Eliza Adkinson 10 F Va Ellen Adkinson 7 F Va Maria Adkinson 6 F Va Francis Adkinson twin 4 F Va John Adkinson twin 4 M Va Isaac Adkinson 2 M Va My late Mother, Faith ATKINSON, had notes in her files stating that her great- grandfather was a Daniel ATKINSON/ADKINSON/ADKISSON and his wife, Sarah (???). We don't have anything on them, and Mom didn't name her source. Perhaps this Daniel is my gggrandfather? This Daniel has a son, John ADKINSON, b. ca. 1846. My great-grandfather was John S. ATKINSON, b. 17 October 1845 in VA. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who might know who Daniel ADKINSON (in this record) was, or anything on the children of this Daniel, and/or his wife, Sarah (???). Several of you have copies of this, but for those of you who don't, it is a journal written by Mr. Stover about the early families of Paint Creek in Raleigh Co. There is a lot of history about the area, as well. Some of the names mentioned are: Williams, Maynor, Bailey, Stover, Wriston, Feazell, Spangler, Hatfield, Kincaid, Kidd, Davis, Sweeney, Tyree, Vass, Romine, Steagall, Pack, and more.
