Michele and All, Thanks so much for the Arnold information. I'll compare it to mine and get back to you. John Arnold and Nancy (Griffith/Griffin) Arnold were my ancestors. Their daughter Sina Arnold married Christopher Williams in Raleigh Co. Their son Thomas married Nancy Virginia Atha. Thomas' marriage record was "updated" erroneously and shows his parents as Eli and Emilly Warden Williams. Thank goodness I knew he was a son of Christopher Williams. Nyla

If I remember correctly, the information was added in a different handwriting and in a different colored ink. There are many perpetuated errors as a result of information that someone added at a later time. My own great-grandfather's marriage record has erroneous information added at a later time. I would caution anyone using Raleigh Co marriage records to check the original record to see if additional information was added at a later time. I have been concerned about this problem for many years. Had I not known my grandfather's parents' names, I could have been "stuck" for years because of the wrong information. If you have doubts about what I am saying, I can provide you the names of at least two other individuals that I know are personally aware of this problem.
