Hi Dora, I've started printing off the info, it will take me a few days as I can only work on it an hour or so each evening after work. Have you heard anything from your sister-in-law yet? Thanks Ellie
Hi I would like to take this time to thank Bev Thomas for being so generous in doing a lookup for me. I had searched for a long time without luck, thanks again Bev. Next, I would like to offer to do lookups with some books I have. One good turn deserves another, right. To start with, I will search index from; 1. SIMS INDEX, Land Grants West Virginia 2. W.VA. Heritage, Encylopedia Suppkemental #9, by Comstock. (All Wars to WW1) All I ask is to please limit your queries to one at a time. Thank You Jackie (SMITH WILLS) DEDMAN
Hello all, I'm pretty sure this is my last message to the list today :-) I wanted to let you know of a new project that is now online. Nyla Creed DePauk has created a companion project to expand on the 1850 Maiden Names Project. She has used information from transcripts of the 1824 and 1827 Logan County Personal Property Tax lists, the 1830 Logan County census, and the1840 Fayette County census to trace the families in the first 1850 Raleigh County census. She then used the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Raleigh County census transcripts to provide additional information on these same 1850 Heads of Households. The project is located at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/3412/RaleighCo1850table1.html and I have also included a link to her pages from the Raleigh Co. GenWeb site. I wanted to say a special thanks to Nyla for putting this together! Used with the 1850 Maiden Names Project, we feel that there's a fairly decent amount of information to begin with on these early families. But these charts are not complete yet, so please email either of us if you can help fill in the blanks! ~Melissa -- Melissa Bailey Duggins <e-mail:mduggins@lexcominc.net> Raleigh County, WV GenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvraleig/ --Please consider submitting one piece of data to the Raleigh County Archives http://www.rootsweb.com/usgenweb/wv/raleigh.htm--
I wanted to take a minute and thank the following folks for their contributions to the Raleigh Co. GenWeb project: Lainie Hendricks, Katie Bohn, and Doris Slaughter for offering to do lookups. Thank you ladies, for being generous with your resources so that we all may benefit! Jean Monk has graciously volunteered to keep track of the obits and get them posted to the Obits Board - thanks, Jean, for giving up some of your online time to do this for us! Nyla Creed DePauk, Lainie Hendrix, Pat Solmon, Robert Legg, Melinda Roles Jacquier, Katrina Wills, Maggie Phillips, and Amber Dalakas for their contributions to the 1850 Maiden Names Project - thank you all so much for taking the time to try and help fill in the blanks! Danny Prince, Doris Slaughter, Rebecca Segura, and Mischelle Harpster for their Archives submissions - thanks for helping us build a permanent database to leave for folks that come later! Jeannie Watts for taking care of those wonderful Archives submissions, I don't know how she keeps all her counties straight :-). And Gracie Stover for the great job she's doing as listowner of the WVRALEIG list. She already knows that I think she's great, but I wanted to thank her publicly for taking on yet one more project :-). My name is on the site as coordinator, but it really is the combined efforts and submissions of others that will make the Raleigh GenWeb site a valuable research tool for genealogists. If you visit the site and find something there that helps you, please remember that it's only because someone took the time to submit what they could or volunteered their time to help others with their research. Thanks folks!! ~Melissa -- Melissa Bailey Duggins <e-mail:mduggins@lexcominc.net> Raleigh County, WV GenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvraleig/ --Please consider submitting one piece of data to the Raleigh County Archives http://www.rootsweb.com/usgenweb/wv/raleigh.htm--
Hi folks! Just wanted to remind everyone that our Archives contest ends Mar. 31st. If you have a submission for the Archives, now would be a good time to send it in! To date, the following submissions have been made: "Prince Ancestors c. 1450-present" by Danny Paul Prince; file size 1.7 kb "Misc. Shrewsbury Marriages 1906-1930" by Doris Slaughter; file size 27.0 kb "History Of Upper Paint Creek by Okey Stover" by Rebecca Lilly Segura; file size 72.9 kb "Misc. Raleigh Co. Deaths - 1878" by Mischelle Harpster; file size 4.8 kb If you are new to the list and would like details about the contest, prizes, or what to submit, email me privately and I'll be happy to fill you in! ~Melissa -- Melissa Bailey Duggins <e-mail:mduggins@lexcominc.net> Raleigh County, WV GenWeb http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvraleig/ --Please consider submitting one piece of data to the Raleigh County Archives http://www.rootsweb.com/usgenweb/wv/raleigh.htm--

Thanks Susie, sorry about the mix up of schools. I bought a shirt the first year but only a cup the second year. I am not sure about any of the Ellisons if they were born after 1920 because this is about as far as I have input any one into my base. I do know I am related to Dennis Ellison from Beckley who was my boyfriend for about a month until I found out he was related. The same thing happened to my sister only it was Tony Lusk, his mother was an Ellison out of Wyoming County. Also Eddie Cook from Mabscot is my cousin that I didn't know about until I started this about ten years ago. Where did you go to school? I lived most of my school years in Beckley but went over to Sophia every day to school. I rode with a teacher. Well enough. I think Doris was later than me and my sister at Sophia...Where is Becky Ellison from? Norma........the "new school" you mentioned is Independence High School....Liberty is farther down Rt 3 at Glen Daniel (took the place of Trap Hill High School). The Old Sophia High School building is still there but has been turned into an Alternative School. It's sooo funny ....while I did not attend Sophia High School, I was at both of the reunions. My husband and I sold T'shirts there. You are correct....lots of people attended this wonderful event and it seemed like everyone had a great time!!!! Good place to gather information right? Susie PS.....Last time we talked you mentioned your line was Ellison? Are you related to Becky Ellison?
Doris, Isn't the old building still there? This will be the third reunion and they have tours of the old school and the new one at Liberty High. Have you attended the other ones? They have been great and a lot of people attend. What year did you graduate? Norma Straughan Russie Doris Slaughter wrote: > Hi, > This is for those who attented Sophia High School.
