Wilson Researchers et al: According to information relayed me by Edward Harding, the following men named David Wilson fought for the Confederacy from NC: David Wilson NC 16th Infantry, Co B (Madison County) David Wilson NC 2nd Artillery (26th State Troops) Co D (New Hanover Co) David Wilson NC 2nd Infantry, Co G (Wake County) David Wilson NC 46th Infantry, Co K (Catawba County) David Wilson NC 58th Infantry, Co C (Yancey County) David Wilson NC 6th Cavalry (65th State Troops) Co G (Johnson Co, TN) David A. Wilson NC 34th Infantry, Co F (Cleveland County) David G. Wilson NC 54th Infantry, Co A (Granville County) David I. Wilson NC 61st Infantry, Co I (Alleghany County) David J. Wilson NC 22nd Infantry, Co B (McDowell County) David P. Wilson NC 28th Infantry, Co H (County Unknown) David T. Wilson NC 20th Infantry, Co E (Duplin County) David W. Wilson NC 25th Infantry, Co B (Jackson County) I'm sorry that none of these were from Caswell County. Ed also inormed me that none of them match the correct age of "under 18" given for David Wilson. To Wilson researchers I might suggest looking for David in an adjoining state. Sorry. Wish I could have been more helpful. As always, I look forward to hearing from you. It is also been suggested to me that we might need to check Alamance County for Wilson Civil War participants, given its proximity to Caswell & the fact that Robert Thomas Wilson was found there among its soldiers. The following units contained soldiers form Alamance County: 6th NC, Company K 8th NC, Company I 13th NC, Company E 15th NC, Company H 47th NC, Company K 53rd NC, Company F 57th NC, Company I Hope this information helps! Sincerely, Mike Peters [email protected]

The search is still on for David Wilson. Mr. Harding says that there were many that served with that name. He is trying to narrow the search down to include just those from in & around Caswell County, NC. As always, I look forward to discussing family matters. Sincerely, Mike Peters [email protected]

Recently Cousin George Stover sent a posting to the list requesting information on his Wilson family & their participation in the War Between the States. He was concerned with Robert T., Lorenzo & David who served out of Caswell County, NC. I promised to E-mail a source, who is an expert on NC troops in the war, for some information. The source has not, as of yet, came through. I, however, have some information that may help. The following are Civil War units that were made up of men from Caswell County: 5th NC Infantry, Company I 6th NC Infantry, Company H 13th NC Infantry, Company C 22nd NC Infantry, Company G 45th NC Infantry, Company I Another Raleigh County researcher, Palmer Wilson, told me about oral legend that says Robert T. Wilson was at Gettysburg & that Lorenzo Wilson was present when Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomattox Court House. Further investigation & perusal of the orders of battle for both Gettysburg & Appomattox tells us that the following of the above mentioned units were at Gettysburg: 5th NC 6th NC 13th NC 22nd NC And that these units were at Appomattox: 13th NC 22nd NC I hope that the Wilson researchers find this inforamtion useful. I am not of that family, but sure as heck enjoyed the ride. As always, I look forward to discussing family matters. Sincerely, Mike Peters [email protected]
I am sending to the other listsrev's that I read, a message that I originally sent to the Logan County group. I am just copying it in whole and resending, as it came to me that the folks raised in Logan County may have kin who are interested in other counties info and I may get this to just the person who'd be waiting to see them. The surnames involved include..... WHITE, HUFF, ALTIZER, BURGESS, HALL, CHAFFIN, LEIFFER, MIRASHI, GILMORE, THOMPSON, RILEY,WILLIAMS, GEAR, ROBINSON, REYNOLDS, BROWNING,BROOKS, BELCHER and CRAWFORD and a few unnamed. These were probably kids and teachers in 1932 or later. <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> I subbed to your list for the purpose of making available some pictures that belonged to my mother in law. She had about 30 little tiny student pictures of classmates of hers, from when she lived in Mallory and went to Man and Kistler schools. They are apparently from the end of the 30's. The school pictures are barely an inch in size and some have names or writing on the back, others, don't. They can be found at ... http://albums.photo.epson.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=4046659&a=30793417&f=0&vt=mp Please be sure that all characters in this URL appear when you copy and paste it, or that every last character, ending with the =mp is in blue as a good link. Sometimes in either case it breaks the URL where it goes to the next line, so make sure that isn't a problem. I also have 2 of her yearbooks from Man, the Hillbilly, 1942 and 1943. As I get to it, I will scan those images and make them available somewhere. If someone in charge here has a better idea or place for folks to get these pictures, free and easily, I'm listening. PLEASE, no lookups, because I will feel like that chicken when my grandmother chopped off its head. I wish others would share their pictures as someone did for me. I pass the favor on to you, and then you on to someone else. Before I forget, my MIL was the former Margie Marie WHITE and I have her other old pictures from the times, especially of her WHITE and ELSWICK kin. I'll keep working at getting these scanned and into folks hands as I can and may I continue to let you know after each group is done, telling you right here of my progress. George: Have sent an E-mail to someone who is an expert on NC Units in the Civil War. We'll see if we can get some information on your Wilsons & their service. I let you know ASAP. Sincerely, Mike Peters [email protected]
