    2. Charleston Daily Mail Charleston, WV 3 Nov 1932 EXPLOSION HERO IS HEART VICTIM Stotesbury Mine Foreman Dies Unexpectedly at His Home BECKLEY, Nov. 3 -- Charles N. Able, 46 years old, assistant mine foreman at Stotesbury, was stricken with a heart attack and died before medical aid could be summoned at his home in Stotesbury yesterday. Able was acclaimed a hero by his employees for his work in helping to rescue entombed miners in an explosion at the mine in December 1929. Funeral services will be conducted from the Stotesbury church tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial park near Beckley. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ida Able, and eight children, James, Alma, Ella Mae, Carl, Effie, Marie, Mary, and Charles Able, Jr., and Mrs. Jack Hill, all of Stotesbury; three sisters, Mrs. George Miller, Mrs. William Earls, and Mrs. Orville Dickens, and a brother, John Able.

The funeral of the other baby, Bobbie Lee, who died Sunday night was held Tuesday morning. Burial in Mt. Tabor cemetery. The babies attracted considerable attention when it was announced that one was born in 1930 and the other 20 minutes later, but in 1931. Both were placed in adjoining graves.

He died en route to a hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Montcoal Baptist church. Rev. Mrs. W. T. Hood will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Spring Hill, with the Valley mortuary of Whitesville in charge. He was ill but one day. Mr. Davis was a native of Raleigh county and one of its most picturesque citizens. He was a familiar figure in Beckley. He made the journey from his home near Mt. Tabor, about five miles from Beckley, in a buggy pulled by a team of horses. He was in Beckley Thursday greeting friends. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mosbey Prince Davis, and the following children: Oscar and James Davis, of Sun; Fred Davis, Beckley; Russell Davis, Statesbury; Joe Davis, Rhodell, Luther Davis, Mount Tabor; Mrs. G. H. Spalding, Beckley; Mrs. Helen Bowers, Mabscott, and Miss Irene Davis, Mount Tabor.

Tabor, who was fatally wounded while handling a gun in the home of M. E. Scalf, at Eccles Sunday evening when the weapon was accidently discharged and bullet lodged in his abdomen, died in a hospital Monday night. Before his death the youth said he was loading the magazine of a .32 caliber automatic when it was discharged. Funeral services were conducted at the Mt. Tabor church Wednesday. Burial was in the church yard. Beside his mother, Mrs. Maggie Clay, he leaves two brothers, Dennis H. Clay and Roscoe Clay, and two sisters, Mrs. Noah Daniel, and Miss Daisy Clay, all of Mt. Tabor.

Transcribed by Nyla CREED DePauk 10 Feb 1930 Charleston Daily Mail Charleston, West Virginia BOIL CAUSES DEATH Beckley Lawyer Succumbs to Complications BECKLEY, Feb. 10 -- McDonald Franklin McGinnis, 25 years old, widely known young lawyer of this city, died at a local hospital this morning of blood poisoning and pneumonia after an illness of a week. The poisoning grew from an infected boil. Mr. McGinnis was a son of the late T. J. McGinnis, former judge of the Raleigh county criminal court, and a nephew of W. H. McGinnis, former judge of the state supreme court of appeals. He was a graduate of Beckley high school; Fishburn Military school, Waynesboro, Va., West Virginia university, and of the Cumberland law school, Lebanon, Tenn. He was admitted to the Raleigh county bar in 1928. He was unmarried. Mr. McGinnis was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity and was affiliated with the local Elks lodge. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Virgie McGinnis, and a sister, Miss Mary E. McGinnis.

Mrs. McMillion had been in declining health for more than a year, undergoing two operations in the last six months. Her first husband was W. B. Stover of Beckley. She later married C. D. McMillion, who survives with two children of the first marriage. They are Mason Stover and Iphia Davis, of Beckley. Mrs. McMillion was an active member of the Baptist church. She was the daughter of the late A. H. and Janes West, of Clear Creek. Two brothers, H. F. West, of Pax, and B. D. West, of Beckley, and a sister, Mrs. G. W. Humphreys, of Pax, survive.
