I had this someplace and couldn't find it...Lewis and James Newton Clay were brothers (only abt a year between them)and two oldest sons of Booker Clay and an "unknown female" before Booker married Lucinda McMillion. Booker made sure they were named Clay and before he went to War...Booker placed one child)Lewis) with one of his brothers in Va and his second son James stayed with Meridith and Nancy Meridith and Nancy (Bailey) Clay were actually their grdparents..We have been trying to find out who his mother was.but those records are not in Raleigh Co.she must have died just after hving James,,,.if this was Lewis what happened to Virginia (Farley) Clay??? Did they divorce or did he leave her and go and marry Letitia Bryant in 1884 in Webster Co?? did he and Virginia have any children ? He would never talk abt Raleigh Co and maybe this is why??? also Lewis was murdered in Webster co in 1937 and James Newton was murdered in 1913..talk abt bad luck for two unfortunate brothers!! Hope someone can lend some info to this.mystery... Nan/wv
