    3. The Sarah Stanley that was md to John B Bailey? If you mean another one, please let me know. The Sarah Stanley who was md to John Bailey on Jul 5 1813 in Franklin Co, I have as the d/o William Stanley Jr and Nancy Mullins. She was born abt 1796 and died Feb 15 1884 in Raleigh County. She is buried in the Stanley Cemetery. Her marraige bond was signed by Obediah Stover who was md to Massea Stanley, her sister. I feel that there is enough circumstantial evidence to support her and Massea being sisters because of Obediah being the surety at her wedding and because both families moved from Franklin County to Raleigh County. I don't have any clues on her husband though, who his parents were or where he came from. How is this family connected to Joseph Stanley? 1. [WVRALEIG] Civil War in Raleigh County
    2. List members: Most of those who have been members of the Raleigh County list, for a while, know that a passion of mine is the Civil War & especially how it affected Raleigh County & those who served from Raleigh. Don't matter if it was for the North or South. Don't matter if it was for the Cavalry, Infantry or Home Guard. The stories of bushwhacking, while horrendous, give us an idea of how things were in our beloved Raleigh during this conflict. And some of this research spills over into other counties. People from Raleigh served in units from Wyoming & Mercer counties of WV and left Raleigh to serve in units from Franklin & Floyd of the Commonwealth. I will attempt to answer any query dealing with "Raleigh County in the Civil War." Feel free to tell us Civil War stories, even if they are just a mention of your ancestor & his unit. That small bit of information might mean something to someone. Who knows, you might meet a cousin along the way. And your truly will enjoy reading them all! I look forward to discussing our Raleigh County families. Sincerely, Mike Peters [email protected]

    3. Here we go again. I really do NOT like having to post things about rules. I beleive everyone on this list are doing a great job on discussing Raleigh county families. The Raleigh county List is about ALL Raleigh Co families. Any discussion about any of the families is what we are about. You never know where you might find a connection when it comes to Raleigh County. the families are intertwined with each other and I personally consider all the families related to some degree. And I enjoy all the postings whether it is one of my families or not. One of your relatives may have married one of my relatives and we might find a missing piece somewhere in discussing all the families. I have enjoyed seeing the list be so active recently. In one of my previous posts, I said that any complaints are to come to me personally, not sent to the list. We aren't about complaining, we are about genealogy, and that definitely includes any discussion of any of the Raleigh County families. For the new people, please do NOT let anyone intimidate you about discussing your families here.. Open discussion about families are NOT personal discussions, they could affect any one of our families. and, the only person who gets to make the rules is me, and I don't have a lot of rules, because I feel they stifle the free flow of our learning about the different families. I do, however have a rule about 'flaming' others and complaing about how others post and berating them on this list. The purpose of this group is discussing the Raleigh County families and discussing the county, what and how our ancestors lived, and I beleive we mostly do a good job of that. If someone starts being too 'personal', I will let that person know privately. so far, I have never had to do so. If you have any complaints(we are entitled to those), then send to me privately, NOT to the list. All of our Raleigh County families are important to us. That is not 'personal' conversation, that is Raleigh County. :) Unless you hear from me privately, don't worry about what you post to our group. Don't worry about what other members tell you not to do. You guys have been doing a great job... :) Gracie
