    2. G.L. Williams
    3. Hello, I am a great great great grandson of Obediah Stover. I was born and raised on Coal River, Artie, Raleigh county, W.Va. My parents still live there. I have a rich heritage. My information on Obediah Stover, son of Jacob Stover and Sarah "Sally" MCGhee, was born in 1790 Franklin co, Va and died 1843 in Raleigh County, and was buried in the family cemetery at Ameagle , Raleigh County. (my mother is still pays the taxes on the property of the cemetery). It is located across the river on the home place of Arlington Stover, son of George Stover, and brother of my grandfather Harlow. There was a rock with an big O on it. But the person who farms the land around the small cemetery has moved the rock. Arnett and Bertha Stover are buried there. Fulton Cemetery where George Stover, and other Stover descendants are buried is up the mountain across from the small cemetery. It have to walk to that cemetery and It is divide into 2 levels, (Lower and Upper level). My mother's brother and sister are buried there. We visit this cemetery alot. Obediah married Mary "Masea" Stanley (1790-1857) You have Jane Stover married Henry Franklin Hodge, son of Lemuel Hodge, Sr and Nancy. Who was nancy's parents? Anyone have any information on the Hodge line? 3. Hi June, I am not a Wriston researcher but one of Austin's children by his second marriage married into one of the lines I am researching. Marriage #1 Name: AUSTIN RISTON Spouse: SARAH F. BLAKE Marriage Date: 4 Mar 1869 County: Fayette State: WV Marriage#2 Name: AUSTIN WRISTON Spouse: LITHIANN GOODE Marriage Date: 10 Oct 1877 County: Fayette State: WV Company H of the 7th West Virginia Cavalry Wriston, Austin","Private" My understanding is that Austin was a brother of the Henry under discussion and, therefore, a son of Isaac and Elizabeth Scarbrough Wriston. I understand that Austin is mentioned in his father's will in Raleigh County dated 12 Jul 1885 but have not had an opportunity to review. Perhaps there will be more information in the following reference (I do not have the book) Source: 'Cabins of the Loop....' By L. Neil Darlington, Dec. 1987, Page 680 "....Austin Wriston married Frances, daughter of Charles Blake, found a suitable place for a homestead at the mouth of Lick Fork, and started a Wriston settlement on Mossy Creek that included Henry Wriston, Burl Wriston and John Wriston...." "....The children of Austin and Frances Wriston were Lee, Lizzie (wife of Kim O'Neall, and Rosa Bell Cotcomp...." The son of Austin and Letha Ann Goode Wriston that I am working on is Hiram Burl "Harm" Wriston who married Verna Ethel Settle. Fayette County Birth Records Given Name: HIRAM Surname: WRISTON Month: 7 Day: 6 Year: 1886 Father: AUSTIN Mother: LETHIA Page #: 320 Hope this helps. 1. [WVRALEIG] Verna Ethel Settle (was Obit of Susan Wriston)
    2. Hi, Rita: Thank you for the Wriston information. The lines down on "The Creek" are so intertwined, I like to fill in as many blanks as possible. As I'm sure you know, Verna Ethel Settle was the daughter of William Henry Settle and Mary Frances Treadway. But what you may not know is that William Henry Settle was a brother of my great-grandfather, Charles Asbury Settle. If you are interested, I have a photo of Charles Asbury Settle in his later years (with his wife Cora Lee Huddleston), and also one of Henry and Charlie's father, James Wesley Settle. The photo of James Wesley is not very good, but is better than nothing. If you like, I'd be happy to compare notes on Harm and Verna. Best wishes, June At 04:07 PM 1/27/2004 -0600, Rita O'Brien wrote: >Hi June, > >I am not a Wriston researcher but one of Austin's children by his second >marriage married into one of the lines I am researching. > >Marriage #1 >Name: AUSTIN RISTON >Spouse: SARAH F.
