(It appears that his first name was William Irvin Bailey. You might also try the spelling of "ERVIN".) Bell Shumate is the d/o Amos Shumate and Nancy, and was listed as 10 years old in the 1880 Wyoming County, Slab Fork District, census. They were living in HH # 28. Amos was aged 64, while Nancy was 45. Also living in the household were David Toliver (son) age 20 and Jesse Toliver (son) age 12. Hope this is helpful to you. Sue Thompson

    3. I have been using the on-line death records extensively for a couple of weeks and can't tell you how much info I have been able to get! There ARE death records available for Raleigh and Wyoming and Summers counties as I have used all three. Don't worry about using a "drop-down" list: Go to: http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_select.aspx As Sharon said, the birth and marriage records aren't available yet, but if you read the info on the website it explains that this is a work in progress and you should check back often. It has been changing as I have been using it. If you have the time to do this, something that has really worked for me is to just search on a surname and a county. Then I go through and look at each one that comes up. I have found people and spouses I didn't know about that way. It is particularly helpful for children who died early who were never picked up by a census. You should click on the "View Record Image" and view the actual certificate, because I have found errors in names on the cover page that comes up giving the basic info. Believe me, you'll find amazing things!

    3. I am not 100% sure, but there is a cemetery located off South Fayette Street in East Beckley which is called the Wright/Hunter Cemetery. There are not many cemeteries located in the Beckley city limits, per se. I am going to the library here in a few minutes. I will see if I can find more information for you.
