    1. [WVPUTNAM] Re: Where is the Providence, Gibson and Maddox Cemeteries located in Teays Valley?
    2. Pam Cosgrove
    3. Lorna Marks, I was searching information on the Maddox Gibson Cemetery in Teays Valley and came across your post. Sorry it's 10 years later! You must be a descendant of Ama City Persinger Smallridge or Minnie Alice Persinger Smallridge. I am a descendant of Lewis Chapman Persinger and his 2nd wife Sallie Meddings Persinger. I hope you were able to locate the cemetery. Have you ever attended a Persinger Reunion? We usually have one the end of July...early August every other year in Eleanor, West Virginia. Sometimes we visit the cemetery after the reunion. Please contact me if you get this message. Pcosgrove645@comcast.net. Sent from my iPad

She was Permelia           (Brown) Crawford. They were married at Blue Sulphur Springs, Greenbrier County, VA            She bore him 5 sons and 3 daughters. There were all noted for the social business and            political positions they held---two sons served in the Civil War.                             The year of 1841 he built a fine two-story brick home on the banks of Little           Hurricane Creek, now known as Shady Dell, and owned by his great-great grandson, JOEL           WOODRUM, of Winfield, W.Va.  His wife, Permelia Brown Crawford died on May 31,           1857.                                The year 1870, he married again, this time to ELIZABETH ELMORE SMITH,            the widow of WILLIAM SMITH.  Second wife, ELIZABETH ELMORE SMITH, came to           PUTNAM COUNTY area in 1824 by covered wagon with her parents, brother and sisters          from ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA, FAIRFAX COUNTY. She died February 1914 at the age          of 95.   charles

    3. look for a death cert at the West Virginia Cultural Center in Charleston next to the Capitol Building.  I found one there, when I couldn't find a cert in either the Putnam Co. or Kanawha Co. Court Houses.  The man was from Meigs Co., Ohio and I knew he died  in W. Va., I just didn't know where until I took a chance.  Turns out he died in a small Charleston Hospital after an operation for Cancer.  Robin Fife From: Christine Hayes <gabby@bentonrea.com> To: WVPUTNAM@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, August 1, 2011 12:02 PM Subject: [WVPUTNAM] Josiah Harrison Arthur I am looking for a death cert and picture for Josiah Arthur. 3. Jean, Here's how Silas C and Silas J Bird are related. This was written by a family member of mine, explaining the relationship. They were half first cousins once removed. Silas Jenkins Bird, was the son of Thomas A., son of William Simmons, son of John. Silas Callahill Meadows Bird was the son of Joseph Henry, son of John Calvin, son of William, son of John. Thomas and John shared the same father, but had different mothers, Hannah Michal and Hannah Thornton. After a long search, I located Silas Jenkins' grave last year and put up a temporary monument. If I have enough documentation, I'm planning on getting a permanent monument from the VA to put on his grave. He was a Confederate Veteran, serving in the 10th Virginia Cavalry, "Rooney" Lee's Brigade, Cavalry Corps, Army of Northern Virgina. ________________________________ From: Denisa (Nisa) <friendofbillw89@ymail.com> To: wvputnam@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, January 23, 2010 11:42:24 AM Subject: Re: [WVPUTNAM] Bird/Plumley photos Silas C Bird and Silas J Bird are related, I will have to do a little digging to find out exactly how.
