I did some searching and came up with an Elizabeth Knotts born to Robert and Barbara Sixx Knotts which would be the grandparents of Phillip Knotts. She was born around 1825 which coincides with the date of birth in the censuses. I hope maybe this has helped some. I dont know if this information is right or not, I found this on rootsweb but Robert and Barbara Knotts did have a daughter named Elizabeth living with them in some of the United States Censuses.
