    3. Hi Donna, We talked a long time ago about our Stone ancestry. I am very much involved in getting ready for an arts festival that I started six years ago. After June 29th I will have more time. I can give you a short summary of my findings now. You will find it gets a little confusing sometimes because there were a lot of John Stone's. I have a John Stone (1637) married to Mary Nelson, son William Stone (1662) married to Virginia Howard, their son Joshua Stone (1686-1774) was born in Richmond County, Virginia and died 15 Feb.1774? in Richmond County. Joshua married Mary Coleman and had a son, John Stone in 1706. John married a Dolly (or Dally) Haskins and had a son John Stone (1750)+, yep another John. This John Stone (unknown wife) had four sons, Andrew C. Stone (1792), William Stone (?), John R. Stone (1774) and Claybourne (Clayborne) Vincent Stone (1795-1877) who was my great, great grandfather. Andrew C. Stone married Mary Christian and had children James Lemuel, Larkin, Sassinia, Brookenborough, Charlotte and John Christian Stone (1884-1923). Claybourne married Mary Smith and had 13 children (too tired to list them right now and you may have them). One of those 13 was my great grandfather John William Stone 25 May 1838 in Preston County and died 2 Dec 1928 in Reedsville, buried in Valley District Cemetery. He married Jemima George who died 14 Sep 1887 and John married and Molly Stocking. John had four children and all were placed by him in the Soldiers and Sailors Orphanage in Xenia, Ohio. John was ill from war injuries and Jemima had TB with both extremely poor. John had little or no contact with his children after that. His son Harry, my grandfather was killed in 1910 and John's will indicates that John did not know of his son's death eighteen years before his death. Well that is a quick look, I have more. Is it all verified? No but I believe it is pretty close. All of the family was from England. One may have been part of the Jamestown Colony but cannot verify that one. Maybe we can chat again sometime and compare the accuracy of our information. Take care, Larry E.
