Carol: Here's the little I could find - > James H. Carroll started a newspaper called "The Preston County Herald" in October, 1870. In 1877, the name was changed to the West Virginia Argus. The paper was printed in the Bishop building on the east side of Price Street. Later they moved across the street ad then to the basement of the Martin building at the corner of Price and Court Streets. > William Carroll opened a store about 1831 on the site of Corbin's storeroom.(?) > The Carroll House, on the west side of Morgantown Street, was built by the father of James Carroll in 1863, James bought the house from his father in 1867. This house was built with local brick. Subsequent owners were General C. C. Pierce, and J. Donald (Happy) Everly. Happy also started the Hotel at the Inn in September 1932. (There's a pic of the Carroll house in the book, but this group doesn't allow pics to be posted.)
