A draft of the Trembly section of Morton's Preston County History, published in Preston County Journal 1907-8 (articles published by Preston Co Historical Society - PRESTON NAMES OF NOTE) states that "Mary, oldest daughter of Benjamin (Trembly), lived single." The writers were closer to the original story than we are. There is no known Trembly cemetery in Preston. There are Tremblys buried in several cemeteries. No burial place has been established for Benjamin. Since the references say that he drowned in Cheat River near Ices Ferry, which is in Monongalia County, if his body was recovered, it may have been buried near the site where he was found, likely without a marker. I've heard a tradition that he was buried "along the Cheat" which doesn't narrow the search. I have found no tombstone or marker for Mary Trembly in the four volumes of IN REMEMBRANCE: TOMBSTONE READINGS OF PRESTON CO., WV. (Fourth volume not yet in print.)
