I have had a lot of help over the last few years, most of which came from published sources such as the Histories of the area of Preston County WV which was part of Monongalia Co Va during the period of time I am researching...about 1775 to 1825...What I am looking for is information about a family by the name of Rightmire...Three of which...(Robert, James and John appear on an 1803 tax list of Monongalia County. James is known to have married Elizabeth Daugherty in 1803 and then moved on to Knox County Ohio. Elizabeth apparently was a sister of Jane Daugherty who married Abraham Elliot....Court records published indicate the Daugherty girls inherited property from William Daugherty...At one time this property may have been known as Daugherty but later apparently became Elliotts Ridge. (May have been around the Kingwood area ??) Jane and Husband Abraham Elliott lived on the land and raised their family their...What I am looking for is proof of where the Rightmire family came from(varius spellings including Rickmire/ originally might have been more like Richtmier) Were they part of the small band of Rightmire's who lived in Loudoun County Virginia ? Were they originally from New Jersey or were they possibly from a branch of Rightmyer's who lived around Saugherties New York..TWO QUESTIONS....Are their any published or unpublished sources that might help me on the name Rightmire ??...Are their any Rightmire famillies , any variation, that might have been in the area before 1802 or 1803 that anyone knows of ??
