Lived near Hagerstown on Conococheague River moved to Preston Co. abt. 1788 with son, George (Frederick,?--cs), Jr.. Immigrated to America Sept. 25, 1751 Name Hirsh/Harsh means Stag. George Sr served in the Revolutionary War in the Philadelphia Company as a private enlisting on 7/20/1776. George evidently arrived from Germany to the Port of Philadelphia then moved down to MD before pushing on to eastern VA. (may! mean Hardy/Hampshire Co. Va/WV ???--cs) The family was traditionally Lutheran and was associated with the Lutheran Church at Aurora WV for many years. The St Paul Lutheran Church was founded at Aurora about 1787. George Frederick Harsh Jr. name appears in their records with the old German spelling of "Friedrich" and his wife's name as " Catarine" They had brought their son Johann ( John ) there for baptism on 7/1/1801. (ref." Aurora Documents" by Karl Gower-- translation of Church records) Child of George Sr and unknown are: George (Frederick?--cs) Jr. born bet 1760-1770 died unknown married Catharine ( Catrina) Core date unknown Children of Frederick Harsh and Catharine Core are: George Frederick Harsh III born abt 1792 died before 1850 Frances Harsh born 9 March 1794 d. 1861 (cs note:m. John C. Wotring in Preston Co., WV (mine--cs) John Jacob Harsh born 11 May 1801 in Aurora Preston Co. WV died 22 Oct 1889 in Iowa Jacob Harsh born abt 1802 in WV died aft.1880 in WV Catherin Harsh born 6Nov 1805 Daniel Harsh born 15 March 1808 Eliza G Harsh born 1811 Andrew Harsh born unknown Sarah M Harsh born unknown ==== I have heard that some other researcher was "told" that Catarine Core's name was "Caroline" but I have never seen it as such and there was no source cited for the name Caroline.
