Hey Janice thanks for the info. I guess this just proves that you can't believe what is written in books. I have read 3-4 different books about the Deahl family and each of them has a different history. Maybe you can look at this info and see if you can straighten it out. I would really appreciate it. The first book I read said Henry was born in 1791 in Pa and died in 1868 and is buried in Kasson, Barbour Co WV. Another says that about in 1830 he came from Somerset Pa to the Zalmon cuppett farm northeast of Hazelton. Still another says he came from Cambria Co in 1820 and cleared out the farm owned by Isaac Layton. (This one would match what you said about the Layton Cem.) Anther book says that Henry came from Yorktown and in 1812 moved to the Chestnut Ave area on the ridge above Hazelton WV. (This author has a man by the name of Sell accompanying him and a sister Anna, who later married George Herring. This again matches what you have on your Sell line) One author goes on to say; " In addition to the eleven named children of Henry and Elizabeth two other children were born who did not live to maturity. These two children were buried with Elizabeth in the Layton Cemetery. (teets, History of the Deahl family. p. 3) Even another author says: " He (Henry) married, first, Elizabeth Sell, daughter of john Sell and Susanna Helman, 1812. Marriage (2): 1809.( NO NAME MENTIONED) Born, 24 No 1795, in Friedens, Somerset Co., Pa (Friedens Church Records. p.2.0> Died. before 1842. Burial in Hazelton, Preson Co., WV (Layton Cemetery). Janice, where do you think Henry died and is buried? These books say he died in Kasson, Cove Dist. Barbour Co. and after his death, Elizabeth moved back to the Deahl Homestead in Hazelton where she died and is buried in Layton. AYI YI YI YI YI YI I am SOOOOOOO confused. Authors are Morton, Wiley, Deahl, and Teets. I would like to check my Sell line with you.
