Hello fellow searchers I can't believe that with everyone on this list that no one else is looking for the Smith's in Preston Co. I am looking for any decedents of William H Smith b Oct, 1835 in England. He came to the US at about age 6 and I think he settled in Pa, Addison Twp, Somerset Co, close to the WV Preston Co boarder. He married Eliza Deahl and had 2 children John b 1866 born in PA Agataha 1870 born in Allegeny Co MD Eliza died early on after the birth of Agatha. William then married her first cousin Elizabeth Deahl They had the following children Simon P b 1875 Julia b 1877 Mary C b 1880 Lucy A b. 1882 Edna Linda 1884 Daniel F b. 1887 Maude Della 1889 Orpha Daisy 1891 George E 1894 Charles E 1895 Bertha V 1898 William H Jr 1901 All of these children were born in WV Does ANYONE have these names in your family. I am really at a brick wall here. I would like to talk with anyone that has a connection to this family. They lived in Barbour Co. WV and later moved to Preston Co, they lived in Corinth WV a small town east of Kingwood. I would appreciated anything anyone could find for me. Civil war papers, etc. I haven't been able to find a darn thing. I think he came to the US on an inner tube, lived under a rock and is buried under a tree. So any information would be very helpful. I have been to the library in Kingwood and to the courthouse there, I even went to the new paper office hoping to find his obit. and NOTHING there either. The courthouse did have a record of his death, dying in Corinth in 1909 from dropsy. Thanks Bev
