I have the Fortney book and I looked up Mahala Pell Fortney. I found only one: Mahala Martha Pell, married Rev. Daniel R. Fortney. (No marriage date.) He was born Mrch 18,1816, Reedsville, Preston Co.,WV, died June 24, 1902. Mahala was born July 19, 1817, died March 16, 1888 and is buried at Old Fortney Cemetery, Reedsville, Preston County, WV. Is this the Mahala you are looking for?? The book has a picture of her husband, Daniel Fortney. If you wish, I can try to scan it and send it to you. He was a Methodist preacher in Reedsville for over 45 years. Their children were: Francis (Frank) Asberry Fortney, born Jan. 23, 1837, Preston Co.,WV Amisiah Pell Fortney, born Setp. 1839, Preston Co.,WV Emma Fortney, born 2841 Isaiah Kirk Fortney, born March 1845, Preston Co.,WV William Fairfax Fortney, born March 1845, Preston Co.,WV John W. Fortney, born ca. 1860 I have an extensive Pell database but I have no information on this Mahala Pell. Have no idea who her parents were and the book doesn't state who they were either. On Emily Squires Fortney, I found this in the same book: Barton W. Fortney, Sr., born Nov. 13,1813, Reedsville, Preston Co.,WV, died April 22, 1896, WV. On July 2, 1842, he married Emily Squires, born April 11, 1817, died June 5, 1887. Their children were: Leah Ann Fortney, born July 10,1843 David Harrison Fortney, born Feb. 24,1846 Barton W.Fortney Jr, born Sept 1847 Josiah Fortney, born March 1, 1848 Andrew Jackson Fortney, born Feb. 18, 1850 Mary Samantha Fortney, born Aug. 11, 1852 Daniel R.Fortney, born May 16, 1854 Virginia A. Fortney, born March 17,1856 Emily J. Fortney, born 1861 Thomas Squires Fortney, born Oct. 28,1863 All children were born at Reedsville, WV. I hope this helps you. I'm interested in whether you are researching any more Pells. Let me know if I can be of further help and please feel free to email me privately. Good Hunting!
