DCM - I've spent enormous amounts of time on the life of Phillip Sterling (and his family) and with not nearly as much to show for it as I would like. He lived very near where I grew up. It is logical that he and his two Bryte wives are buried at the Forman Cemetery where the Bryte parents have markers but it unlikely that any proof or dates will be found. In 1870, Phllip was in failing health so he made an agreement with Jeremiah W. Collins (one of my relatives) that in exchange for Jeremiah taking care of Philip and his wife, he would give Collins 92-1/4 acres. By Dec. 24 of that year, Phillip was dead and the land and responsibility for Elizabeth were transferred to Noah Titchenell and his wife. This was in the article I did on the Sterlings in 1973 as a part of the series Preston Names of Note that Doyne Halbritter and I did for the Preston County Journal. Does anyone know regarding the tombstone for Esther Bryte w/John Bryte in Forman Cemetery spelled Easter Bryte....which is the correct spelling of her name? I have wondered if the Easter spelling is a misunderstanding of the carver of the name Esther which may have been pronounced with the long e pronunciation. Thanks. (Also thanks to those who care for the Forman cemetery.
