Wendy, I copied the inscriptions in the Shahan Cemetery on Goff Hill between Marquess and Sinclair, Preston Co on Jun 2, 1984 which includes: Nathaniel Friend 1834-1911 Christena His Wife 1839-1933 Death Record 1868-1920 Preston County "F" deaths, page28, line 2 Name Friend, Nathaniel Date of Death 7-12-11 Date of Birth ---- Marital Status Married Age 76-6-13 Male White Place of Death Tunnelton Father ---- Mother ---- Occupation ---- Physician ---- Undertaker ---- Cause of Death Heart Disease Perhaps a Friend researcher on this list can provide more details on Nathaniel. There doesn't seem to be a death certificate for Christena on the WV Archives website but she was the daughter of George & Catharine (Rosier) Shahan. An Early History of The Shahan Family 1678-1920 by Elizabeth Shahan, 1993, page G-39 lists the children of Nathaniel & Christena as: Louisa C, Mary M, John W, Clara Ettie, Lavina Jane, Amanda A & William Nicholas.
