Deloris, The old cemetery sounds like the one I visited about three years ago. There were no stones visible but under several years accumulation of leaves we did find two stones in good condition. Both were for Gooding and I believe were a Mother and child. I have photos somewhere. Will see if I can locate them. Greetings from CA: I've been researching the John G. Goodwin's of Preston County, WV for a few years and just connected Amanda M. Goodwin to John Goodwin, b. abt 1804, d. after 1870 but probably before 1880. He was first married to Eliza Jane Bowman, who was my Aunt even before they married. Married second about 1855 to Sylvania Balsinger. They are in the 1860 and 1870 Bruceton Mills, Preston County, WV census. Maudy M. is age 5 in 1860 and then in 1870 as Amanda age 16. After John Gooding/Goodwin died his son John G. Goodwin b. 1830, d. 1910 lived on the farm near Rockville. I heard from a cousin that there was a family cemetery on the farm, but it was plowed under. I think that Sylvania might have relocated in Uniontown, Fayette Co., PA after John's death and might have married a Vance. There is a Amanda M. McKay age 54 years, married 6 years, in the 1910 Grant District census working as a housekeeper for a Martha A. Mitchell family. There is also a listing by his self of a John L. McKay age 71 years in the Grant District census married for 6 years. I would be interested in information on this line of Goodwin's.
