    1. [WV Preston County] Knisell family
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Knisell; Miller; Collis Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IEC.2ACE/761 Message Board Post: I'm seeking info on George W. Knisell and his family. George W. Knisell was from Alsace province, France. He was a wagoneer in Napoleon's army and was at the Battle of Waterloo. George W. Knisell turned up in Kingwood, WV around 1832. He was a wheelwright and lived in a stuccoed house, which was notable in a time when most people lived in log cabins. His wife was known for being an excellent cook. George W. Knisell had two sons I know of: George L. Knisell, who was killed in 1862 at Bull Run (I assume this means the Second Battle of Bull Run, and not the Bull Run in Preston county); & Philip W. Knisell, who was born in 1817, and who married Melinda Collis, and who lived at Bird's Creek near Howesville, WV. My great-great-grandmother was Nancy Knisell. She was born 28 June 1843; she married Ben Miller; she died September 1928 in Howesville. I'm fairly confident that she was either the daughter or the granddaughter of George W. Knisell, but I don't know how to link them up. Any information anyone can provide on the Knisell family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
