    3. Dear Janice and others: The list I posted was of Rev. pensioners up to 1834. I rechecked and Daniel Martin is not on this list. Further over in the book, this is the list of Preston soldiers on pension in 1840: Isaac Matthew age 84 John Jennings age 90 John Hartman age 84 Daniel Martin age 89 Dabney Ford age 89 Asa Wilson age 78 Nathan Ashby age 75 Abner Messenger age 81 The following list is of persons in 1850/2 who were still waiting or were not granted a pension. Welden Baswell awaiting further proof William Boswell for proof of two credible witnesses John Lap (Sap) awaiting further proof Susannah Cupp, widow of Leonard For deficient proof of marriage Mary Feathers, widow of Jacob, waiting further proof Elizabeth Orr, widow of John No claim, Services of her husband were rendered after the Revolution. In 1818 William Webb of Preston was put on pension, he was 78. These lists were excerpted and reprinted from Third Biennial Report of the Department of Archives and History of WV in 1911. The book I have was printed in 1967. The first pensions granted were for disability and/or poverty. As the years went by Congress lowered the qualifications for a pension. In 1832 almost all requirements other than service in the Rev. War were removed. Jean
