    1. [WV Preston County] Preston County resident property deed sold on April 8th, 1887?
    2. To whomever reads this and helps me: Hello, this is Melinda Clark-Black again. I am searching for my great-great grandfathers property deed that was sold sometime after July 5th, 1884 cause that is when he supposedly died. His name was Laughlin Clark(e). He came from the Republic of Ireland and came to America sometime in 1836. What I have just been informed about is that he had 2 wives and a neighbor that became his companion before he died. His neighbor was Mary Nicholas Riley. They became very close to the point that I believe they had a son out of wedlock after Laughlin lost his 2nd wife (my g.g.grandmother-Mary Catherine Stemple-Clark) in 1879 and after Mary N. Riley was divorced from her husband Mark Riley. This all took place in the Kingwood District which is what I grew up calling "Howesville" or "Borgman". So can somebody direct me to whom I should speak to regarding the sale of Laughlin Clark's farm in Howesville or Borgman or Kingwood District to Mary Riley and then it was sold to Mary Riley's illegitmate son "Frederic Laughlin Clark Riley" or aka: Frederick Clark Riley. Now I was told that the following: The birth record at the courthouse in Kingwood for Mary Riley's last child states Frederick Clark Riley born Dec. 12, 1881. Parents listed as Laughlin Clark and Mary M. Nicholas Date report filed 1952. Now can somebody let me know if they do find the birth information of this Frederick Clark Riley? Then let me know where one would check for the sale of the Laughlin Clark farm to Mary N. Riley who in turn did a promisory note which said the following: On the 8th day of October 1888 with interest from the 8th day of April 1887, We promise to pay to P.J. Crogan Special Court for the sum of $402.88. Being to P.J. Crogan Special Court the sum of $402.88 eing the first purchase money payment on the Laughlin Clarke farm. Witness our signatures and seal this 11th day of July 1887. It was signed by Mary M. Riley and Brock Weaver. Also can somebody pinpoint what the actual address would have been for Laughlin Clark while he was alive living at his farm. Because of my new source, I now have a copy of the June 1880 census which shows Laughlin Clark and Mary Riley being neighbors. It would be received on July 3rd, 1880 and on page 336. It shows the top to read "Inhabitants in Kingwood District, in the County of Preston, State of West Virginia enumerated by me on ______ day of June, 1880. Now go to line 15 which shows Riley, Mary and on line 23 it shows Clark, Laughlin. Now what I can't read is what does it say on the rest of the line from Laughlin's name as well as what address does it show Laughlin to have lived at? The names on lines 24-lines 27 are Clark, John W. (my g.grandfather); Clark,Dennis C. (my g.uncle); Alice F. (my g.aunt), Stemple, Sonora (my g.grandmothers sister). For John W. it shows him to be W-White, M-Male, 6-age, Son, at home. So I am also wondering if anybody has the cemetery information regarding the Campground Cemetery which I believe is in Tunnelton, WV. Cause this is where I was told that Frederic Clark Riley was buried. Now my source told me that Frederic died in Spencer, WV on May 1, 1964; but he was buried at the Campground Cemetery. So whomever is willing can you all direct me on this. Thanks for all your help in the future from another native born and raised in Preston County, WV. Sincerely waiting for your response(s) Melinda Clark-Black currently living in Chester County, PA
