Hi Alice, Yes. Abraham Elliott and Jane Daugherty(Dougherty) are my GGGG grandparents and there descendants have lived in Preston county, WV. for the last 200 years. Our tree says Abraham was the son of William Elliott of the Fort Pitt, Fayette county, PA. area, but none of the records regarding William Elliott of the 1760's says anything about his children. This William Elliott of Pennsylvania's western frontier is my road block(though I have found lots of information on him and his brothers Abraham and Edward). As far as Elizabeth Daugherty being the sister of my Jane Daugherty I am relatively certain she is, but can't prove it with documentation. I believe at one time I saw a will of John Dougherty stating some of his childrens and son-in-laws names. This might be found in Loudin county, VA. records of the time. I didn't know Preston county was called Loudin county before the civil war. I did read that Virginia tried to claim parts of Maryland and Pennsylvania before the Revo! lutionary war.Sorry I couldn't be more helpful with your Rightmire research.
