Wendy, on my maternal line, Susan M. Shaffer (1821-1900) married John S. Arnold. Would like to know who were her parents. Paternal line: Mary Frances Hewitt, age 19, married 18 July 1871, to Daniel Shaffer, age 24, in Preston Co., WV. Oral history is that she died giving birth to their first child, and he remarried. Would like any history on linage of this child. It is believed family historians have child listed under Daniel's second wife.
I'm wondering if the Mary Frances Hewitt, who married Daniel Shaffer, is in any way related to my Mary Hewett, who first married George Wile in Maryland, June 27, 1838. He died, and she married 24 May, 1842, James Tidy Burch. They had a large family and eventually moved to Saltlick, Preston Co., WV. Mary Hewett's parents were William Hewett (b.14 June, 1778, d. 14 May, 1837) and Marie (b.5 June,1796, d.4 May, 1837), parents unknown. I have no earlier information on this lineage. Hi, I don't have Susan Shaffer listed with a birthdate any where close to 1821. I also don't have any Daniel Shaffer's at all. There is at least one other Shaffer family in Preston Co. that is totally unrelated to my line of Shaffers. It is possible that Susan and Daniel could be from that line or maybe I just haven't found them in my line yet. Sorry. Wendy -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Thank You Roy, Another question put to rest. That makes 2 this week. Rosalie
I've been talking with my mom about the Schaeffer name because her mother was Otta Schaeffer. My mom had some friends, Dan and Elizabeth (Westerman) Shaffer. Dan was from Rowlesburg and Elizabeth's dad was Fred Westerman who had a plumbing business there in Kingwood. Dan and Elizabeth had one child, Rebecca. They moved to Orlando, Florida in the 1960's. Dan, Elizabeth, and Rebecca have all passed away. Roy Lockhart <[email protected]> wrote: Rosalie, Mary Frances (Hewitt) Shaffer is buried in Riverview Cemetery at Rowlesburg.
