Mathias McCowan's Co. in Lt.Col EBayds Va, Militia from April 30 to June 28, 1814. This company volunteered in Preston Co. to serve 3 months and marched to Norfolk, Va. A number who volunteered in this company after there arrival at Norfolk, volunteered in Capt. Kennedy's artillary company whose muster rolls appear here:. They were Privates.
