Wiley in their books "History of Preston County West Virginia" described a John S.Roberts who in 1805 bought 3 lots[1.15 acres]in Kingwood,Preston Co,VA[WV]from Hugh Morgan.On which he had built a building for a store.And in 1809 200 acres just out side town.He also was appointed a trustee of Kingwood and a Lt. Colonel in the 104th.regiment militia.The city bought out Roberts in 1818 so they could make it into a courthouse because of Kingwood becoming the seat of Preston Co.After that Roberts seems to disappear.Does anyone out there know where he went or what happened to him? Not sure of any of this as I found it years ago and have not researched it or documented where I found it. Daniel Severns (Sovereign) was born about 1771 in Bucks, PA. He married Elizabeth Jenkins born about 1775 in what is now Monongalia, WV. Daniel's parents were Daniel I. Severns and Mary Allen. Elizabeth's parents were William and Susannah Jenkins. Daniel's paternal grandparents were Benjamin Severns and Sarah Green and his great grandparents were John Severns and Frances Elizabeth Betts-Phillips.
