Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IEC.2ACE/531.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks, Mike. My Gettings came to the US from England on their way from Ireland. The immigrant ancestor was James Gettings, Anne Feeley and my grandfather Patrick Joseph who was two. James had relatives left in England, one of whom was a carpenter who gave them a model house which he said he would build for them if life in the US was not what they wanted. I have never been able to trace back where they came from in either England or Ireland, but Gettings is a small enough clan that we must be related. We, too, are Catholic but the ones in Fairmont are not. All of my grandfather's brothers but one married out of the church. One of Philp James' sons, Eugene became a Catholic when he remarried after the death of his first wife. I will put your response in my Gettings file. Thanks! Anne
