To whomever reads this: I am searching for the place where my g.g.grandfather Jasper Hill was laid to rest probably in Preston County. He died on April 20, 1941 according to my grandmother who would be his granddaughter. Also could you look and see if you locate the place where a Martha Howard-Hill was laid to rest around Dec. 8, 1928 somewhere probably in Preston County as well. Thanks Melinda Clark-Black
I just received a notification from Willow Bend Books. They are having a 20% off sale until Nov. 30th----to receive the discount you have to mention "Starlight" when you order Since several of our List members expressed an interest in the Morton book, I thought it might be useful to pass it along. =;o) Carolyn http://willowbend.net/results.asp A HISTORY OF PRESTON COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA - Oren F. Anna Ash, settle at Browns Mill, Pres.Co.WV., 1805+/-. They had 8 children; Samuel Byrne, Elizabeth, John Buckner, George, Lydia, William, Mary Ann, and Thomas Francis. I have a Granville Brown ("Esq." of Halleck,WV.) m. Elizabeth Watson and had at least two children, James and Samuel. It looks as though Granvilles father was John Buckner Brown, but my notes are a mess. One other thing, for what ever reason, at the top of my notes I wrote Wm. B. Brown of Browns Mill. Hope this helps your search, good luck. D.P.H.11.09.01.

It is Morton's Volume "History of Preston County." It seems to have been just added as an afterthought. The Volume deals with genealogical histories of about 25-40 individuals. It can be seen at WVU Colson and I understand that the Parson firm has reprinted the book. Phil Wheeler
