Would anyone possibly have any information on the William Reed family? Or where I might be able to find some? He was the father of Sarah Reed who married James Carroll. Thank you, Jan Ward Denver, CO
Yes, it is between Brandonville and Markleysburg PA, off of Rt. 26. I will be there on Saturday, is there somebody you would like me to look up? I live in Alexandria, VA. I often go to Tucker and Preston County to do research on my Root and Miller lines. If anyone is interested in joining me, carpooling, or meeting me in the area to share information or travel, that would be great. Send me an email. I travel both from Route 50 in Virginia to West Virginia or through Maryland Route 70/68 to Route 219 in Oakland. Thom, Can you send me the Cemetery pics? I'd be very interested. Thank you!! Beth mmonroe37@erols.com
Thom, Sounds like you went on an adventure finding the Cemetery! Sounds like the Cemetery is in a natural, quiet place. I'm not familiar with West Virginia at all. I hope I can find who I'm looking for (Harvey and Helen Knox). I have to try and find my way to the Cemetery from Grantsville, MD. Should I travel West via Route 40, or Highway 68? I've never been to WV :-( Thanks for the detailed directions regarding the path and dirt road! Beth

Would like to know the hours of the Historical Society of Preston County in Terra Alta. Does one need an appointment, if so need phone number. George
Beth - about 2 weeks ago my wife and I made a trip to Teets Cemetery. It was quite a trip!! Down a dirt road from the twin churches about 1/4 mile turn right onto an even smaller and overgrown "path". The path is clearly visible, but it will seem unnatural to go there because it is so overgrown and you think that it will end in some briar patch. Follow until you come to a wonderful clearing in the middle of the woods. (I do not suggest driving there in the dark or if it is raining, or has rained in the past two days). Inside a small fenced area you will find Teet's Cemetery. I was looking for a number of kin there and found more than I bargained for! By the way I have a few pictures. If you're interested, I can send them to you on line. Robin, Morton's History of Preston County states on page 430 that Frederick K. Ford b. 1792, d. 1876 - m. Nancy Williams, b. 1783, d. 1877. To the best of my knowledge, this family wasn't related to the Bohon family. I am trying to figure out where Pile's Fork of Buffalo was in Monongalia County in 1838. It was a land grant to John Freeland. Can anyone help me? Thanks Beverly Railey Walter
Hi Nancy - I don't have any Thomas's YET! You are right about the Fishers being mysterious. The children of Rachel Casteel and John Fisher: Malinda (married James VanSickle) , Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Druscilla (married John Cuppet) , Henry, Jeremiah, Amos (married Sarah Dennis) - Amos was the last child born 1846 and there were no more FISHER children. Sorry I couldn't be of more help - I know how frustrating it becomes with the "brick wall" ancestor.... You wouldnt happen to have a Thomas Fisher, would you, who was born probably between 1855-1860 or so? My g-g-grandmother, Isabella Thomas, was married to him and they had five children before he passed away at a young age. I have no info on him at all, he is my big brick wall. It seems those Fishers were a mysterious lot, they sure are hard to find any info about!
