I'm president of the Preston County Historical Society and a Thomas descendant as was my late husband. I knew Eleanor, know Park, have met Verl and my mother knew Susie. They lived a mile or two from where I'm sitting. We'd be pleased to have what you care to send. Contact me off list with particulars. This information was left by Verl Dennis, their son, in a home I purchased in Florida. He has indicated no desire for this information, but I thought a local historical society might find the information of value. In the 1920 census I should have typed Brown Village, not Brown Township. In 1930 it is Mannington City Also on looking at the 1910 Census I believe that John Rechtine's wife's first name is Adaline. Surnames: Scarton, Roccon Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IEC.2ACE/1100 Message Board Post: Hello All, I'm looking for any information on the Scarton Family. I know that they came from Mel Belluno Italy, but they seem to have made trips back and forth, so I'm not sure when they came originally. My grandmother was a scarton and her father James (Giacomo) worked as a coal miner and her mother maiden name was Roccon. I believe that her grandparents were Bennedetto and Carmela, but beyond that I know very little about her family. I know that there are many, many Scartons still in Preston county (presumably Bretz), but I don't know how they may be related, so any information at all on this family would be appreciated. Thanks, Carrie
In Morton's "A History of Preston County" there is an entry for a John G Rechtine who married a Gertrude Mollenkamp (pg. 460). On page 385 of the same book it reads: "John C. Rechtine came from Prussia in 1856 and settled in the north of Kingwood District on the Christopher Borgman place. His father came with him. "Preston County WV (then VA) Records 1853-1860 by Roy Lockhart shows the birth of Felomina on 15 Dec 1859. Her father is listed as Garrett Recktien and the mother as Gertrude Recktein (spelling of both last names is different). Several Rechtines are listed in Bethlehem Cemetery: Adeline, 1854-1922, w/ JF Carrie W., 1887-1982, w/ H. Orval H. Orval, 1888-1941, w/ Carrie W. HO&CW J.G., Feb. 8, 1856-June 17, 1915, w/ Adeline Hope this helps. My 14yo son is doing a genealogy project and we are looking for information on our family. Through a yahoo group someone sent us info on Frederick RECHTINE age 23 in the 1880 census Kingwood and then age 42 in the 1900 census Reno. We believe this person is my son's great, great grandfather. Any information would be appreciated. This is what we have so far: Glenn Roy Rechtine born 1910, Harley Orval Rechtine born ? Another thing... when I was growing up my Dad (Glenn) always said we were the only Rechtine's in the country. Of course, there was no internet and all the genealogy he got was by traveling and looking in county records and church records, etc. When I do a search of RECHTINE there are several RECHTINEs in Ohio and some other places. Is there anyway to find out how they are related to us? Georgia Willis Orlando, Florida __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
