    1. Marriage of Margaret Cupp?
    2. I am looking for some marriage information. From the IGI, I found that Margaret Cupp, daughter of John and Sarah Wilhelm Cupp of Preston Co., married Leonard Everly. But on the 1860 census Leonard Everly's wife is named Sarah. Was this a second wife for him? Or was Margaret the second wife? Does anyone have access to the marriage records to check this for me? Thanks so much for your help with this . Karen Lee Williamsburg, VA.

    3. Hi Rosalie, Hampshire was first and then Mineral. Try the Mineral Co. website that Pat Thompson posted a link for. They have a lot of information online - you may be able to find something useful there - if I remember correctly there are some cemetery listings posted. I don't know if you have access to it, but there is a book called Allegheny Passages or Allegany Passages - it is about the West Marva District Churchs and contains information about the church at Beaver Run. I don't have a copy of this book and I can't remember who wrote it. I don't know if this will help you with your Arnold research or not, but I have a James Arnold and his wife Hester listed in my database. They had at least 4 children. Of their children I have two married to Shoemaker's in the Mill Creek area. Sarah Elizabeth Arnold married Thorton Shoemaker and Mary Susan Arnold married Jasper Shoemaker. I have some additional info on the Shoemaker families, as my step-father is a Shoemaker. Hope that some of this is helpful. Wendy -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Hampshire from Freserick VA in 1753 You should get something like The Handybook for Genealogists by Everton Pub or I suspect the county info is online somewhere Barbara At 09:06 AM 10/6/05, you wrote: >Wendy, I need help. 3. When I used the Kingwood Library microfilm reader printer this summer to look at the Preston County Journal microfilms the reader printer was in very bad repair and was scratching the microfilm as it moved along through to reader printer scraping off part of the print. I could see checking that there was a lot of scraping on the film already so I thought this must have been happening for a while. I stopped working with the film and took it back to the newspaper office. The nice people there told me the university in Morgantown creates their microfilm and has a copy, and that the Terra Alta Public Library also has the film and a good new reader printer. Don't you all be in there hogging up the machine when I come back!!!! :) Art --- [email protected] wrote: > Lee----I have done some research in Kingwood where I > grew up so perhaps I > can give you some information that will be helpful. > The County Clerk's office > is where you go to look for births, deaths and > marriages, not in that order. > If I remember correctly the fee for a certificate > was either $3 or $5. 2. Roy----when I was visiting in Kingwood last year and doing research at the library, they were the ones who sent me to the Preston County Journal office to borrow the microfilms to use in the library reader. The Journal people couldn't have been more courteous and helpful and leaving my drivers license there was much simpler than driving to Morgantown, finding a place to park, do my research and then have to drive back to Kingwood over that curvaceous Rt. 7. Leaving the driver's license is not unusual at all; most shopping malls require this when you want to use a stroller, wheelchair or motorized scooter to get around the mall so the Journal is not asking anything unusual to assure the return of their microfilms. Onward to research about our past no matter where or when we do it. Eleanor G

    3. Dianne and others, I grew up in Hampshire Co. and attended the Beaver Run Church of the Brethren - the main part of the church is well over 100 years old. The church is actually in Mineral Co. There is an Arnold Cemetery in the area. Wendy -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Version: 7.0.344 / Virus Database: 267.11.9/118 - Release Date: 10/3/05

    3. Eleanor, Births, deaths, marriages, deeds, wills and fiduciary records are all located in the County Clerk's office. Some of the older record books are stored in the basement. I didn't mention the Preston Co Journal office as they are trying to run a business and don't need the interruption of researchers. The Terra Alta Library also has Preston Co newspapers (Journal, Argus) on microfilm although not as extensive a collection as WVU but less hassle than going thru the Journal office as you don't need to produce your driver's license. 3. Lee, The County Clerk's office would have the records you need. Unless the policy has changed recently, walk-ins are welcome. Is there a specific office for genealogical records in the Kingwood courthouse? Is there a specific office/person I should contact before I visit? I know some places require appointments for research, while others allow walk-ins. > > Lee Michael > > > ==== WVPRESTO Mailing List ==== > List Mom for the WVPRESTO mailing list: > Diana Boothe [email protected] > > ============================== > Search Family and Local Histories for stories about your family and the > areas they lived.
