I did find, like you did, Christopher Teats (not Teets) in the 1850 Green, PA census, and as Christian in 1860 Bracken, KY census (although they seemed to LOSE years between 1850-1860....so I'm not positive these are the same Teats. I wanted you to know that I have a Teets Family website (also covers Teats/Deats/Dietz somewhat) at http://johnteets.com with over 1700 Teets in it. If you can add to or correct anything on my site, I would be grateful. I am happy to share what I have. Also, I have found William/Christian/Michael Teats in the 1790 NY Ulster Marbletown census, and a Christian/Adam/Jacob/Michael Teets (not Teats) in the War of 1812 records, 2nd Regiment, Virginia Militia. On my site I also have several Teats under "Teets (Teats or Deats) in the Surname Index. My brick wall is a Jacob Teets, b. 1787 (from Brandonville, WV area). Hope that together we can figure this out! Please contact me and let me know what you know! Thanks, John Teets

My grandmother (nee scarton) was born in Preston county WV, but they left there when she was very young and moved to Mercer PA. Is your family also from Preston? I know that originally my great-grandparents came from Mel Belluno Italy (In the Alps), and that there were other scartons in Preston that also came from that area, so its possible that our descendents were cousins. Any additional information you have may be helpful. If you know the dates of birth and locations for this family, you can go to some public library branches where they have census records and hunt for the family in the census books and microfilms. Ask the librarian for help. They are usually very helpful. Did anyone in your family get a copy of the family Bible? Births and deaths are recorded there. Was this family a member of a church or denomination? Most families in the 1800's had membership somewhere. Did they migrate from elsewhere to the current location? If so, when? Names really aren't enough info for anyone to start a research. You really need to help us by providing more information. Dianne
Hi Christina, Harrison should be in the 1850 Preston Co. WV He was born July 1849 in WV according to the 1900 Preston Co. WV census. I checked the 1850 census but couldn't find him. Maybe I need to go back and check again which will take time as I have it on disk. Do you have him on any Census with the Frankhouser's? Maybe 1860 or 1870? Maybe they didn't have him as a Goodwin/Gooding but a Frankhouser, maybe that's why I missed him. I have Hannah in the 1880 Preston Co. census without Harrison, but it says she is married so maybe he was off working someplace, maybe Fayette Co., PA and didn't list him. I think Monday I will call the Preston Co. Courthouse and see if they have a death record of 1923 on him since there isn't any in the WV State Archives on Line, maybe they missed him. Thanks so much for you help. Regards Delores (Mollohan) Hartman daughter of Phame Olive Goodwin b. in Bruceton Mills, WV.

I haven't been able to find his death record even with a death date. Harrison married Hannah Moyers/Myers about 1872. I'm really finding more on Hannah's family but nothing on Harrison. Regards Delores Hartman I have a Harry Goodwin as the son of Ruth W. Willet and David Frankhouser... Harry was their foster son. Both David and Ruth were buried in Shady Grove so I am thinking that this is the correct Harry because Ruth b. 5-28-1813 and David b. 9-25-1805 had a son Lindley H. Frankhouser b. 5-7-1836 so Harry would have been younger than their son. Any thoughts? Christina

Would anyone happen to know the names of Christian/Christopher Cupp's daughters? He was a son of Peter Leonard Cupp, Sr. , born around 1779. I have found the names of Chris's sons online, but not his daughters. Thanks for the help. Karen Lee
