    1. Re: [WV Preston County] SMITHS of Preston Co.
    2. Christian Smith and Frederick Smith (his son) had connections through marriage with people in Somerset (Salisbury) PA. Christian lived and died near Lenox, Preston Co. WV. Frederick married Anne Wilhelm, d. of Christian Wilhelm of Salisbury PA. Don't know if this will help in any way. I have a pretty full tree of Smiths in Preston Co, and I don't have a Margaret. 3. I notice you have Frederick Smith married Anne Wilhelm, daughter of Christian Wilhelm of Salisbury, PA. I'm looking for Phebe Wilhelm, my great-great grandmother born 1818 and died Jan. 12, 1902. She married Nathaniel Casteel (July 18, 1819-Mar. 31, 1883). We can't find where she died or when they were married. They had 5 children - Solomon - William Harrison - Sarah Elizabeth - Mary M. - and Margaret. There were at least 2 Nathaniel Casteel's in Preston Co. and Garrett Co. MD born about the same time. As near as we know this Nathaniel Casteel was son of Shadrack and Elizabeth. Any help you can give me about Phebe or her family will be greatly appreciated. We waited too long to inquire of older descendants these details. No proof of death date either. 2. Fayette Cemeteries Online
    3. For those of you who may have connections to Fayette County, I invite you to have a look at the Fayette County Cemeteries online. In March 2005, we undertook the task of identifying, locating and documenting the cemeteries of Fayette County, PA, as part of the USGenWeb project. Our goal was to make this information freely available to both local and long distance researchers. With the help of some very dedicated volunteers, this has become a reality. We've spent the past few weeks updating the site in time for Memorial Day. We now have about 20,000 veteran's burials documented. 29 new cemeteries have been added, for a total of 484. 40 cemeteries have had major updates of added information and corrections. Over 4,000 new entries have been added for a total 43,400 burials. There are over 200 pictures of the entrances to the cemeteries and thousands of individual head stone pictures. While the project is nowhere near completed, we have made tremendous progress in documenting the burials of our ancestors. As progress, the elements and vandalism take their toll, the family plots and country cemeteries shrink and disappear. This is our effort to see that those buried there are never forgotten. Go to http://www.rootsweb.com/~pafayett/index.html and click on CEMETERY RECORDS...or http://www.rootsweb.com/~pafayett/cemetery/index.html Be sure to sign the guest book. This message is being sent to the mailing lists of the counties adjacent to Fayette. If you receive more than one copy, my apologies.
