Surprised to read that many people believe that residents of Appalachian are not only uneducated and intermarriage only happens in those states. It was not uncommon for first cousins to marry throughout America in the early years. In fact intermarriage is common in European royalty even today. My earliest known ancestor came to what was then New Amsterdam, now New York City. I am not only proud of him but also all of my wonderful ancestors that settled in West Virginia. Florida resident with WV roots.
