In the basement of the Pendleton County courthouse I came across some old court records dating back to the early 1800s. The name of my 4g-grandfather was listed in one of the books and I also saw names of interest to others on this list. Examples: Pam Rooney would probably be interested in the several Coil names entered - George, Jacob, Adam, and others from the 18-teens and -twenties. Ray Flesher might like to see the entries of the name Fleisher - John, Benjamin, George, Andrew, and Henry F. These books are badly deteriorated. They will be dust in a few more years. Apparently the books have not been transcribed and doubt was expressed that LDS had microfilmed them. It would be a worthwhile project for one of the Pendleton County historical or genealogical groups to preserve these books, possibly by having the pages laminated. Bill Rexroad Hutchinson, Kansas
