Nedra's message about the Henckels included a reference to the Pendleton County Skidmores that got my attention. My wife traces her ancestry these Skidmores but the early information looks somewhat "iffy". I am seeking reliable information about the genealogy of the PHOEBE SKIDMORE (B. Ca. 1801, D. 1860) who married Hiram Vance in 1821. Phoebe is believed to be the daughter of JOHN SKIDMORE (B. 1768) and NANCY JOHNSON (B. Ca. 1770, married JOHN around 1792. John Skidmore is believed to be the son of JAMES SKIDMORE (B. Ca. 1730, M. Ca. 1750-55, D. 1810). All contibutions of information about this SKIDMORE line will be sincerely appreciated.
