I am trying to establish whether or not this is my Mom's ancestry line. Her grandfather was John M. Carr, son of Jacob Carr, Jr and Sarah Hillyard . According to Goodspeed Publishing Co, Chicago, Ill, 1888 , Jacob Carr,Jr, was born in Pennsylvania in 1815 ; his father, Jacob Carr, Sr. was a native of Pa (also Scotch-German descent)and moved the family from Pa to Fayette County, Ohio in 1817, then on to Allen County, Ohio, where Jacob Sr. died (no death year established at this time ). Jacob Carr, Jr. married Sarah Hillyard (exact date unknown) in Allen County, Ohio and they had 10 children : Joseph, Margaret, Harriet, Mary, John M., Thomas, Susanna, Katherine, Jane and Jacob ; all the children were born in Allen County, Ohio ; Sarah Hillyard Carr died before 1858 ; Jacob Carr, Jr, married Susan Stu! ckey , had two more children (unknown names), moved to Davis County, Iowa and there died (year unknown). I know most of the history from John M. Carr forward, but have little or no knowledge of Jacobs Jr and Sr----in other words, I cannot confirm the info that Goodspeed has written . If I could connect this with most of the other info online, Jacob Carr, Sr would be a native of Va, not Pa and his lineage would take me to Jacob Carr Margaret Mallow , Jacob being the son of Georg Heinrich Karr (Carr) and Sarah Beidert Peterson . My problem is trying to prove this lineage with very limited resource information at my dispossal. I live in the sticks and the nearest library is about 30 miles, but it's genealogy room is mainly for local genealogy ....any way you might be able to help me construct the bridge to this history? Thanking you in advance , I am........DLS Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
