Hi, Thank you all for your support through the years, and I agree that we have a great mailing list and the most active for the area. I am the admin of this group and would certainly like to correct any perceived problems. First, would someone who is experiencing "gibberish" please forward it to me privately. I personally have not seen any so I am not sure of its cause. Occasionally I receive messages from people using Macs with odd characters, but have not seen that on this list. And, the advice to be sure your emails go out in "plain text" format is excellent. Regardless of how you have them set, to save space Rootsweb converts all messages to plain text, and this "translation" may be what some of you are seeing? Secondly, there is also a Pendleton County message board at rootsweb which is public and requires no subscription. As a courtesy, any message posted on that board is forwarded to this list, but the reverse does NOT occur--our messages are private to only subscribers and are not posted to the Pendleton County message board. The message here which appears to cause recent comments was a reminder that not everyone (probably very few) who post to the message board subscribe to this list. Thus, a response here to a message board inquiry cannot be read by the original inquirer. Remember, that these message board posting are forwarded as they are written, including any replies also posted at the message board. As administrator of this list (but not of the message board) I have absolutely no control over their content nor the person making the inquiry. Often these are newbies so we do need some understanding. Regarding whether or not to include the original message when responding, one cannot really make a blanket yes/no. Obviously, there is no need to repeat all forwarded headings, the previous 5 replies, and the "Me toos" which I suspect was Pam's intent. Personally, I appreciate when the original message is included--I am totally lost on an exchange that goes: Message: Does anyone know where Susie Smith, born 1860, died 1880, lived in Riverton area, might be buried? Reply (and only info given in the entire message): She is in Smith Cemetery. My first thought is WHO is in Smith Cemetery? Again, thank you all for your support and I appreciate your comments and concerns. Just let me know, and please do send me, privately, the gibberish when you receive it in a message.
