Hi Becky, I have a book called the Henckel Genealogy which I borrowed from a friend. This book has some 1447 pages and if you have a relative in Pendleton Co., West Virginia they most likely will go back into the Henckel, Henkle, Hinkle lines. My husband has a Day ancestor and I have a Hedrick ancestor. I looked in the index for Elizabeth Day or Christian Hedrick but did not find them. However I did find a "Bazzle" Day which according to this book on page 251 lists Bazzle as the son of Absalom Day. Absalom married Leah Teter on Jan 7, 1822 in Pendleton Co., West Virginia. Absalom and his family moved to Macon Co., Missouri in 1838 and settled near College Mound. Three brothers moved to Indiana and Ohio and a fourth "Bazzle" died in Randolph Co., West Virginia. The book believes that Absalom was the son of Samuel and Margaret Day. I cannot find anything in the book on Samuel and Margaret Day. I am not sure that this is your line but it may be worth investigating. I may be going to the Randolph Co. courthouse soon and I will make an effort to look for Bazzle, Elizabeth Day and Christian Hedrick. On Christian Hedrick, I have him born in 1806 in Pendleton Co., West Virginia. Christian is the son of Frederick Hedrick and Mary Elizabeth Fisher. He had siblings Mary who married John Tingler, Elizabeth who married Moses Teter, Susannah who married John T. Miller, Phoebe who married Abel Hinkle, Adam who married Jezebel Hinkle, and Leonard who married Melvin Flynn. My line descends from Adam and Jezebel Hinkle Hedrick. Frederick is the son of Charles Hedrick and Barbara Conrad. I hope that this helps you. Hello, This is a problem within the Day family. The Basil Day that was Elizabeth's father was born in 1771 in Frederick Co. Md. and died in Randolph Co. Va. The Basil that was son of Absalom is his grandson. Absalom was a son of the old Basil who died in Randolph Co. Va. Now as for Samuel Day, there are different opinions. A Samuel Day is listed on the 1776 Colonial Census for Frederick Co. Maryland in the household of Leonard Day and wife Tabitha (as are Basil, Ezekiel, Susannah, and Tabitha) I might be forgetting one or two. Samuel, on this census was born in 1762. Leonard Day and family moved down to Hardy Co. Va. probably after the Rev. War. (his name appears in Hardy Co. history)Leonard Day was a Pvt. in the war. Samuel, his son is probably the Samuel who is a Pvt. in the war, too. Samuel Day had dealings in Hardy co. and Pendleton Co. Samuel disappears from Pendleton Co. and then a Samuel Day appears in Ross Co. Ohio with wife Margaret Cohagen. A Ross Co. biography shows he came from Pendleton Co. However, his tombstone says he was born in 1757 not 1762. The SAR says this Samuel was a son of the Leonard Day b. 1737 Prince George Co. Md. who later came to Hardy Co. Va. There are those that believe the Samuel in Ross Co.Ohio is not the son of Leonard, and there are those that believe he is. We are waiting for some DNA proof from the descendants.I believe that the three brothers who moved to Ohio and Indiana were Basil, Absalom, and Ambrose. I also thought that perhaps an Ezekiel moved there, too. (he may be a son of the old Ezekiel who was a brother to the old Basil b.1771) It gets confusing when they all name each other the same names.
