Hello, the Day family, I believe is a little mixed up because there were several Basil, Ezekiel, and Leonard Days. The father of Elizabeth Day Hedrick was Basil Day who was born 1771 and is listed on the 1776 Frederick Co. Md. census. This Basil Day married Susannah Lamb in Pendleton Co. in 1794 at the age of 24. Absalom Day was this Basil's son and he had a son named Basil who moved to Ohio and possibly beyond. The Samuel and Margaret Day named, moved to Ross co. Ohio soon after 1800, I believe. Yes, Christian Hedrick was the son of Frederick Hedrick. His son Enos Hedrick who married Sarah E. Sites is my ancestor. The Day family is really messed up. Many believe that Samuel Day and wife Margaret are from a different Day family - one from Berks Co. Pa. and not related to Leonard and Tabitha Day of Frederick Co. Md and later Hardy Co. Va. So far no one knows for sure. However, Basil and Ezekiel Day, sons of the old Leonard b. 1737 in Prince George Co. Md. lived in Pendleton Co. all their lives and you will find them on the census. By the way, I do have a Hinkle in my past, but the relationship may not be true. I am related to Elizabeth Teter (Phares). She was the daughter of Reuben Teter and Christine Phares. Reuben's mother was Susannah Hinkle b. 1747 wife of Phillip Hinkle b. abt. 1730. However, Edith Teter, my ancestor was born before the marriage took place and she often went by the name Phares. So she could very well be illegitimate. So that nixes my Hinkle line. Someday, I hope the Day line gets straightened out.
